tktk Callbreak — Bangladesh's Favourite Card Game Now Online
Callbreak is one of the most popular card games in Bangladesh and the subcontinent — a unique experience that blends four players, five rounds, and the skill of winning tricks. At tktk you can play this game with familiar rules on a Bengali interface.
A Round from Start to Finish
Callbreak usually starts with four players, though it can be played with three. A full deck of 52 cards is dealt equally — each player receives 13 cards. Before play begins, every player must place a "bid", declaring how many tricks they expect to win. The minimum bid is 1.
After bidding, the player to the left of the dealer plays the first card and the rest follow in turn, each playing one card. Following the led suit is mandatory — only if you do not have a card of that suit may you play Spades (trump) or another suit. Spades is the permanent trump suit in this game, meaning a Spade always beats any card of any other suit.
In each trick, the highest card wins — within the same suit, A is highest, then K, Q, J, 10 in order. A total of 13 tricks are played in one round. At the end of the round, a player who wins tricks equal to or more than their bid earns points; a player who wins fewer tricks receives negative points.
Key Points of a Round
- 52 cards, 4 players, 13 each
- Declaring a bid before play is mandatory
- Must follow suit; if you cannot, play trump
- Spades — the permanent trump suit
- 1 round = 13 tricks
- 5 rounds make a complete game
Card Rankings and Point Calculation
In Callbreak, card values are fixed — A is the strongest, then K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 in descending order. Any Spades card beats any card from the other three suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs). That means a Spade 2 can beat a Heart A.
The scoring method is straightforward. Say a player bids 4 — if they win exactly 4 tricks they get +4 points. Even winning more still gives only +4 (extra tricks do not add to the base points). But if they win fewer than 4 — say just 3 tricks — they get −4 points. After five rounds, the player with the highest points wins.
| Suit Order | If Bid is Met | If Bid is Not Met |
|---|---|---|
| Spades (Trump) > Hearts / Diamonds / Clubs | +Bid Points | −Bid Points |
| Same suit: A > K > Q > J > 10 … 2 | Extra tricks = neutral | Even one short is a penalty |
| No matching suit: Trump > other suits | Without trump, only the suit-winning trick counts | |
Not the Dealer — the Other Players are Your Opponents
One thing that makes Callbreak different is that unlike Blackjack, you are not playing against a dealer — all four players compete against each other. In every trick, everyone plays a card and whoever plays the strongest card takes the trick. At tktk online, you play against real opponents.
The dealer position rotates counterclockwise after each round. The number of cards dealt to each player stays the same, but because the dealing sequence changes, the advantage of playing first rotates each round. This matters strategically — when you play first, you have less information about opponents' cards, but you can force them to follow suit.
This four-player structure is what makes Callbreak so engaging — you have to read your opponents' bids and adjust your own strategy. From tea stalls in Dhaka to online tables, that mental contest is what makes Callbreak enjoyable.
What to Keep in Mind When Starting Callbreak
Bid Conservatively
If you are new, keep your bid a little lower than what your hand suggests. Failing to meet your bid means direct negative points.
StrategyHold Back Your Spades
Do not use your trump cards early. Save your high Spades for the tricks that matter.
TrumpWatch Your Opponents
Noticing which suit a player cannot follow tells you a lot about their hand — this is the core skill in Callbreak.
ObservationFocus in the Final Rounds
In a five-round game, the last two rounds matter most. If you are behind on points, take risks here.

Popular Variants of Callbreak
Several familiar versions of Callbreak are played in Bangladesh. The most common format is a four-player game over 5 rounds with Spades as the permanent trump. Some tables play 3-round or 7-round games.
Pair Callbreak: In this variant, the four players split into two teams. The two players sitting across from each other form a team and their combined tricks are counted together. The team with more total points than the other wins.
Double Deck Callbreak: Two full decks are combined, allowing for more players. Each hand is larger and the game runs longer. This format is less common online but quite enjoyable.
Tournament Format: The player who accumulates the most points across multiple rounds is the winner. Regular Callbreak sessions are available at tktk.
Table Etiquette and Session Planning
Callbreak is fundamentally a game of skill and patience. Before sitting at a table, it is important to follow some basic practices. Once you have declared your bid in a round, you cannot change it — so look at your hand carefully before deciding. Count your suits rather than bidding in a hurry.
At an online table, making decisions on time is good conduct. Taking too long frustrates other players and on some platforms the card will be played automatically. Roughly 15–30 seconds per decision is enough.
For session management, decide in advance how many games you will play. Long uninterrupted sessions reduce concentration, which increases the chance of wrong bids. Take breaks, drink some water, then start again.
Avoid raising your bets or playing extra rounds out of frustration after a loss. For more detailed guidance, you can read our Responsible Gaming page.
Session Planning Checklist
- Count all 13 cards before placing your bid
- No more than 15–30 seconds per decision
- Do not play more than 3 games in a row without a break
- If you are behind on points, change your strategy — not your temper
- Decide your budget limit before you start and stick to it
